Kids Caring for Kids–Here, Near, and Far

Excelsior Elementary 5th Grade Girl Scout Troop #17126 has created a Bronze Award Project entitled Kids Caring for Kids–Here, Near and Far! It is a weeklong poverty awareness campaign being held at Excelsior Elementary from April 11 – April 15, 2016. Our campaign ends with a “Mock Sleepout” at Gary’s First Class Car Care in downtown Excelsior on Saturday, April 16 from 11am – 7pm. 7th Annual Give to the Max Day

Thursday, November 12th, 2015 is the 7th annual Give to the Max Day in Minnesota. It is a day when Minnesotans show their incredible generosity by giving financial support to their favorite local charities. It is an opportunity for everyone to make the world a better place. On November 12th, please consider making a donation to A Better Society. Your support will help Project Life-Cycle to provide free refurbished bicycles to hundreds of people throughout the Twin Cities and in countries like Jamaica and Kenya. Celebration of Service 2015

Over 242 students, groups, alumni and adults spent over 46,000 hours serving local and global communities. On October 27, 2015 we celebrated this service. Minnetonka students knitted new born hats, volunteered for community theatre shows, lent a hand at the ICA food shelf, recycled bikes for needy children and so much more. Minnetonka students are passionate about service!

Project KiDS served 643 hours this year; Project Life-Cycle served 838 hours. Project KiDS Compost Sale Fundraiser

A Better Society’s Project KiDS and the youth of the Universalist Church of Minnetonka are teaming up to hold a Compost Sale Fundraiser at the MN Landscape Arboretum on Saturday, May 9 from 9am – 4pm. The compost sale coincides with the Annual Plant Sale at the Arboretum, so you can purchase your plants and compost at the same time! 20lbs of compost is only $4 per bag! We will even help you load the compost into your car!!
